Dyslexia assessments, tutoring and touch typing in Maidenhead
I'm Laura Scawn, a Level 7 qualified dyslexia assessor and specialist teacher, supporting children and adults across Berkshire and the surrounding counties.
About me
I am a Level 7 qualified dyslexia assessor with a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC). I am an Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association and a member of The Dyslexia Guild.
I am also a qualified primary school teacher and a qualified Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). I have worked in both state maintained primary schools and independent schools since 2006, when I qualified as a teacher, and have experience of working with children with a broad spectrum of strengths and needs.
I am a passionate advocate for ensuring that children with additional needs have suitable provision to help them succeed with their learning, hopefully making school an easier and more enjoyable place to be and helping them in later life.
As well as being qualified to assess for dyslexia, my Level 7 postgraduate certificate in SpLD (dyslexia) qualifies me as a specialist teacher, and I provide English tutoring as well as diagnostic dyslexia assessments and touch typing courses. I am qualified to assess both children and adults for dyslexia.
Based in Maidenhead, I am ideally located to assess children in Windsor, Marlow, High Wycombe, Henley, Bracknell, Slough, Wokingham, Twyford, Reading, and some areas within Buckinghamshire, North Hampshire and South Oxfordshire.
When I am not working as a SENCO, I enjoy being active outside — cycling, playing tennis and going on long country walks, often ending in a village pub for lunch or dinner! I also enjoy swimming.
